United Airlines steps up flights from Denver to Florida

Florida was one of the most popular leisure destinations during the Covid19 pandemic.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that United is doubling its Denver hub in Region 1 which has proven resilient to the drop in demand for flights linked to the pandemic.

Last weekend, even the Chicago-based carrier packed a revised schedule for its spring, and it beefed up its sound link from Denver to Florida.

In particular, the carrier included 37% more flights between Denver and Sunshine State between March and May 2021 in its latest program upgrade. The following routes have seen the most spectacular gains, according to Cirium’s timetables and supported by the company.

– Denver (DEN) to Destin-Fort Walton Beach (VPS): 32 additional flights
– Denver (DEN) to Pensacola (PNS): 18 additional flights
– Denver (DEN) to Sarasota – Bradenton (SRQ): 18 additional flights
– Denver (DEN) to West Palm Beach (PBI): 39 additional flights

According to United, these most recent additions reflect how responsive they have been to demanding trends. With many beaches and a temperate climate, Florida is just one of the few destinations with optimal social distancing.

Throughout the pandemic, Denver has been one of United’s busiest airports. In December 2020, the company performed only 29% fewer flights in its Colorado heartbeat, compared to December 20 and 19, according to data from Cirium. Across the system, United abandoned nearly 50% of its own flights in December 2020 compared to the previous calendar year.
