Aerolineas Argentinas transports Chilean salmon to the United States
Aerolineas Argentinas has launched a series of cargo operations to transport Chilean salmon to the United States through El Calafate airport.
The first shipment containing 11,282 kilos of fresh salmon was made on December 23 at night on board flight AR1861 from the “Armando Tola” international airport in the city of Santa Cruz to the international airport of Ezeiza to connect with the flight from Miami departing on the 24th at 23:30
To date, 3 other operations have been carried out on 30/12, 09/01 and 13/01 and respectively 13,500, 16,336 and 13,962 kilos have been transported.
From the company they indicated that this type of shipments will continue to be made from El Calafate, twice a week.
The company has scheduled for El Calafate and other tourist destinations with high demand, Airbus 330 aircraft models with capacity for 270 passengers and enough space in its warehouses to make the transfer to Ezeiza and from there connect to its final destination.
Usually, the export of salmon takes place overland to Ezeiza airport or from the airports of Punta Arenas and Santiago de Chile. Therefore, with the “jumbo jet” flights operating in the south of Argentina, new commercial possibilities are opening up with minimum connection times and greater efficiency in the transport of goods.
“These flights with larger capacity aircraft allow us to meet the high summer demand, as well as to generate these opportunities and continue to grow in the air cargo sector”, explained Pablo Ceriani, president of Aerolineas Argentinas.
