Delta Vacations: Explore and Walk in the National Parks of the United States
The US National Parks, 61 in number, are managed by the National Park Service (NPS), an agency of the United States Department of the Interior. National parks are established by action of the United States Congress.
Twenty nine states have national parks, as do the island areas of American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands.
Fourteen US national parks are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
