Thousands of flights are canceled in the United States, Boston Logan Airport is the most affected
Boston’s Logan airport, has seen 300 cancellations. The cancellation rate at Boston’s Logan International Airport was higher than any other major U.S. airport in the week ended June 5, with nearly one-fifth of all flights being cancelled out of the airport.
The majority of canceled flights were due to bad weather, but it also affected some scheduled flight operations by airlines that use Logan as a base. On Tuesday, May 31, Delta Air Lines announced that they would be cancelling about 400 flights from Logan on Wednesday, because of “unavoidable circumstances.” That day, JetBlue Airways also cancelled 250 flights from its New York City based hubs, including JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International Airports.
The storm is expected to drop more than three inches of snow from New York to Boston by Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service. More than 1,000 flights have been canceled at Northeast Corridor airports, including JFK International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Teterboro Airport and Stewart International Airport, according to FlightaWare.
Flights are also canceled at Philadelphia International Airport, Baltimore-Washington.
