American Airlines announces a change in the delivery date of its Boeing 737 MAX
American Airlines has announced that it has entered into a new agreement with Boeing to reschedule delivery dates for its 737 MAX 8 and 787-9 aircraft.
A first agreement concerns the conversion into firm orders of options that the American company has held since 2013 on 23 737 MAX 8. It indicates that it intends to convert seven other aircraft. These thirty single-aisle aircraft would thus be delivered half in 2023 and half in 2024.
On the other hand, it requested a postponement of the deliveries of its 787-9, whose deliveries were planned from January 2023. From now on, they will start in the fourth quarter of 2023 (for four aircraft) and the rest of the aircraft concerned will be delivered until in 2027. American Airlines still expects 25 787-9s.
The company points out that its capital expenditures for 2022 will increase by $38 million (to $2.7 billion) and those for 2023 by $146 million (to $2.86 billion).
