Flight cancellations follow one another at Dallas-Fort Worth airport due to ice storm
US airlines continue to cancel many flights due to Storm Landon, which mostly affects the Midwest and southern North American country. In the morning of Thursday alone, more than 4,600 operations were canceled.
The Dallas-Fort Worth airport was the hardest hit, even being closed in the early hours of the morning due to icing on the runways. According to flight tracker FlightAware, as of 12:45 p.m. local time, a total of 630 operations had been canceled.
Chicago – O’Hare (Illinois) and Austin (Texas) airports each recorded more than 200 cancellations, according to information from the Travel Weekly newspaper.
On the airline side, Southwest, with activity important in Chicago and Dallas (Texas), canceled more than 1,000 flights, which represents 30% of its program for this Thursday. For its part, American Airlines was forced to cancel 700 operations, or 23% of the flights it had scheduled.
