American Airlines updates its loyalty program
Starting this month, members of American Airlines’ Aadvantage loyalty program will be able to check their status by logging into their account or using the mobile app. Each time they earn miles, they get a point towards status. There are three status levels, each with different benefits.
Once a person reaches a status level, their upgraded travel experience and status will last until March 31 of the following year.
American Airlines extends complimentary upgrades to all passengers who are members of its Aadvantage loyalty program. Statutory members will receive free upgrades for all flights within North America. If you’re traveling with someone who doesn’t have status, you only need to request an upgrade if you want to upgrade your travel partner. Later this year, free upgrades will also be extended to those traveling together. This means that you won’t have to wait until you’ve reached the status level before you can upgrade. You can immediately upgrade your travel partners.
AAdvantages members earn miles when they fly on American Airlines, oneworld® alliance carriers and other qualifying airlines. With the recent announcement of the exclusive partnership with multiple airlines, American continues to expand opportunities to earn, redeem and reciprocate benefits across its global reach. In the Field: AAdvantage members can earn miles by making everyday purchases with the AAdvantage Purchase Program, Simply Miles™, AAdvantage restaurants, and vehicle rentals with AAdvantage Partners.
